What is Glassfirbe Material Skateboard

Skateboarding has come a long way since its inception, from a simple wooden board with four wheels to a wide range of materials and play styles that cater to the needs and demands of modern-day skaters. One such material that has gained significant attention in recent years is glassfiber.Glassfiber is a composite material that combines glass fibers with resin to create a strong and durable material that is resistant to wear and tear. The main advantage of using glassfiber in skateboard construction is its ability to withstand high stress and impact loads while maintaining its shape, providing skaters with a more stable and consistent ride.

Benefits of Glassfirbe Material Skateboard

The Ultimate Tourist Experience

Exploring a city shouldn't be a "by the book" activity. Forget about the city tour that links some major monuments and the most iconic buildings. Pass on any guide telling you where to take a right turn and where you can find the best meal in town. Every city is much more than the sum of its highlights. One of the benefits of Glassfirbe Material Skateboard is being able to see the environment around you in a different light, through the eyes of a local. Thus, skating around the streets of a new metropolis can be the ultimate tourist experience. While driving doesn't offer the same intimate connection, walking is definitely too slow to allow you to cover enough ground in a limited amount of time.

Types of Glassfirbe Material Skateboard

Longboard skateboard

These are ideal for maneuverability, especially on rough surfaces, and as a mode of transport from one location to the other. If you love cruising, they are the best for that too. They are fast, and one can take fast swoops. They are also ideal for beginners as they are more stable than other types of skateboards. You may choose from the pintail, twin tip, downhill, or classic longboard.

Carve board

Surfers prefer the carve skateboards as they can tilt, change directions, and pivot trucks easily. That makes surfing more fun and exciting. Skaters also enjoy pumping effortlessly and generating higher speeds as desired. They are not ideal for skating beginners and those who prefer flips and tricks. They should opt for the double kickboard instead.

Double kick skateboards

These are the best for rough terrain and parks. They are also ideal for grinding, but you can't skate too fast or for long distances on these types of skateboards. Skaters who prefer performing tricks opt for this type of skateboard because of the kicks at both ends.

Cruiser boards

Depending on your skateboarding style, you may opt for the long cruiser or mini cruisers. The main advantage of such boards is their capability to perform flips, tricks, take turns, and carves. If you are adventurous, this would be an ideal skateboard for you.

Glassfirbe Material Skateboard Components

Deck
The Skateboard Deck itself can vary in size depending on your age and skill level. The needs of your board can mean you may prefer a wider deck for stability and balance, or a slimmer board for more efficient tricking. The ends of your board are called the nose and tail for the front and back respectively. The nose of the board will be slightly bigger and the tail slightly smaller. Every board features 4 bolt holes, or mounting holes, where the bolts feed through and attach to the trucks. When gripping the board it's important to make sure the bolt holes are pushed through and the edge of the grip is sorn clean.

Trucks
Trucks are made up of a baseplate, a kingpin, bushings, and hangers. The truck is used to turn and grind the board. Depending on how loose your setup is, it will allow you to turn more or less. The size of your deck will directly affect what size trucks you need for your board. If your trucks are too narrow for your board you'll find it difficult to balance and function the board, and equally if the trucks are too wide this could cause issues when navigating the board. Adjusting your setup and trucks is super important to the use and upkeep of your Skateboard. Your bushings (also known as cushions) can also have an effect on the turn of your board.

Wheels
When talking about Skateboard Wheels, it's best to start with explaining the wheel durometer. The Durometer refers to wheel hardness. The higher the durometer, the harder the wheel. Most standard Skateboard Wheels are around 95a and under 55mm. These are small hard wheels that have become the park setup default over the years, but some do prefer harder and softer wheels for different purposes. The benefit of a super hard wheel is that you'll gain more speed as well as less chance of flat spotting. Softer wheels are generally easier to control the speed of with being slower generally, but the real advantage of a larger, softer wheel is that they're better for more uneven terrain and surfaces.

Bolts
Skateboard truck bolts are pretty straight forward. For standard setups it's just gonna be a 1" bolt. If you have especially large trucks on your board like longboard trucks you may need larger bolts. In cases like these, or when you add a riser or shock pad to your build it can be more beneficial to use a 1 ¼ " or 1 ½ " bolt. If your bolts are too long this could cause issues when building and if your bolt is too short you won't be able to securely fix the nut and the truck will not be safely attached to the deck. To attach the bolts all you have to do is poke holes in the grip tape and slot the bolts in the correct positions. When building, if you have two silver or alternative coloured bolts, these are to indicate the nose at the top of the board, and the all black/regular colour bolts can be used on the tail.

Grip Tape
Griptape is also relatively self explanatory. The grip on the board is a sticky sheet of sandpaper you attach to your board and it will help you to jump in the air and do tricks. This is helpful when flipping the board as there's some resistance on it making it easier to trick with. Sometimes when your board arrives or when you've freshly applied your griptape this can have bubbles in - this is perfectly normal and will often come out with use.

Bearings
As far as bearings go, the main thing to make a note of is the ABEC rating. The higher the abec rating, the stronger the bearing is. If you're a beginner, it's unlikely you'll need anything crazy in terms of bearings but the best quality bearings will always start you off on the right foot. An Abec 5 bearing will run smoothly and get you from A to B but an Abec 9 bearing would be able to cope with more intensive use, for example being able to cope with landing tricks or skating ramps. Keeping your bearings clean and away from water is paramount for the longevity of your bearings. Bearing cleaners can be purchased but not necessary, and we always recommend keeping some speed cream handy if you are looking to take to the slopes.

How to Choose Glassfirbe Material Skateboard

Determine Your Skill Level
The first step in choosing the perfect complete skateboard is to determine your skill level. Are you a beginner, intermediate, or advanced skateboarder? This will help you choose the right board size, shape, and features that suit your level of skill and experience.

Choose the Right Board Size
The size of the skateboard deck is an important factor to consider when choosing a complete skateboard. Deck sizes range from 7.5 inches to 8.5 inches, depending on the rider's age, height, and shoe size. A smaller deck size is suitable for younger riders or those with smaller shoe sizes, while a larger deck size is ideal for taller riders or those with bigger feet.

Consider the Deck Shape
Skateboard decks come in various shapes, including standard, cruiser, and longboard. Standard decks are the most common, and they are suitable for most skateboarders. Cruiser decks are ideal for cruising around town, and longboard decks are perfect for downhill riding and transportation.

Budget
Before you start shopping, it's important to determine your budget. Skateboards can range in price from around $50 to over $200. Consider how much you're willing to spend and what features are most important to you.

How To Assemble A Complete Glassfirbe Material Skateboard

Grip the deck
Peel the paper backing off the grip tape. Be careful not to let the grip fold and stick to itself.Holding the griptape by the ends, lengthwise, lower the sticky side of the grip tape on to the deck. While doing this, let the grip bend in a U shape. That way the grip touches the middle of the deck first.Very lightly, lay the grip tape down making sure it covers the entire deck. That way if it's not on perfectly you can just lift it back off the deck.

Mount the trucks on the deck

Once you have the holes poked, insert the hardware bolts into the deck from the grip tape side.Screw the nuts on to the bolts and use the skate key or 3/8 wrench to tighten the nuts.Holding the bolts in place with the screwdriver from the top.

Put your wheels on

First you'll need to put the bearings in the wheels. Take the nuts and washers off of the trucks. Place the board on its side. Each wheel will have 2 bearings in it. Put the side of the bearing you want facing out on the wheel face down on to the truck axle first. One side of the bearing will be on the inside of the wheel, one will face the outside of the wheel and the elements. Some bearings have a side that supposed to be facing outward. Some bearings are the same on both sides and then it doesn't matter.

Fine tuning

You can tighten or loosen the trucks with the 9/16 kingpin nut on the truck. Loose trucks are easier to turn. Tight trucks offer a bit more stability but don't turn as quick.

How to Maintain Glassfirbe Material Skateboard

Check and Tighten Bolts

Regularly check the bolts that attach the trucks to the board and ensure that they are tightened. Loose bolts can lead to accidents, and they can also cause the board to make unnecessary noises while riding.

Clean Bearings

Skateboard bearings can get dirty over time, which can cause the wheels to spin slower. Cleaning the bearings regularly ensures that the skateboard performs at its best. To clean bearings, remove them from the wheels and soak them in a bearing cleaner. Once clean, dry the bearings and add a few drops of lubricant before reassembling them.

Inspect the Deck

Inspect the deck regularly for cracks, warps, and other damages. A damaged deck can be dangerous to ride on and should be replaced immediately.

Rotate Wheels

Skateboard wheels can wear unevenly over time. Rotating the wheels regularly ensures that they wear evenly and extend their lifespan. To rotate the wheels, remove them from the trucks and swap the back wheels with the front wheels.

Adjust Trucks

Skateboard trucks can be adjusted to suit personal riding preferences. Make sure that the trucks are adjusted correctly and are not too loose or too tight. Tight trucks can lead to difficulty maneuvering, while loose trucks can lead to instability.

FAQ

Q: Do skateboards need maintenance?

A: Skateboarding is a high-impact activity, so it's normal for parts of your board to wear out over time. To keep your board in top condition, you should replace any worn-out parts, such as wheels, trucks, and bushings.

Q: How often should you clean your skateboard?

A: You shouldn't need to clean them more than once or twice a year as long as you don't skate in the wet. If you do get them wet though, clean them as soon as you can when you get back in from your skate. Check out our step but step guide to bearing cleaning right here.

Q: Why can't skateboards get wet?

A: The wheels, bearings, and trucks can corrode; grip tape can weaken; and a wooden deck is susceptible to become waterlogged, leading to warping and cracking.Aside from hindering the performance of your actual skateboard deck, water also ruins the other components of your board, including the trucks/bushings, hardware, bearings, and wheels. Trucks are tough, but enough water exposure will lead to rust, and the bushings will weaken.

Q: How much time does a skateboard last?

A: 2 weeks, to 2 years, is the wide range of how long pop can last on a board. Serious skaters on shortboards may only have 2 weeks - while casual longboard riders won't need a new board for 12-24 months, usually.2

Q: Do longer skateboards go faster?

A: Longboards usually go faster than Penny Boards when ridden downhill mostly due to their components, even more importantly longboards are much more stable than Penny Boards - allowing better control at high speeds making them dramatically SAFER for downhill riding.

Q: Do I need to wax my skateboard?

A: For rails, wax the top to make it more slidable. Apply Just Enough – Put on a good amount of wax but don't overdo it. Too much wax can make the surface too slippery. Test It Out – Before going all in on a trick, gently slide your board over the waxed area to see how it feels.

Q: How do you know if your skateboard is bad?

A: The tail and nose of your board are made from delicate concaves that over time can go warped from weather damage. Waterlogged board from riding through a puddle or being left out in the rain. You can tell when a board is waterlogged when its pop is muffled and the board is extra heavy.

Q: What to avoid when buying a skateboard?

A: As a beginner skateboarder, it may be tempting to buy the first cheap skateboard you see at a department store. However, this might not be the best idea. Cheap wheels that don't turn well or other low-quality components might break quickly, leaving you with the need to buy another skateboard sooner than you'd like.

Q: Is WD40 bad for skateboard bearings?

A: Spraying WD40 will remove the old grease, but it won't clean your bearings, and it won't regrase them afterwards. Filling your bearings with WD40 and skating them without regreasing will result in destroyed bearings. Don't say we didn't warn you!

Q: How to lube skate bearings?

A: To lubricate the bearings, drip 1-2 drops of lube into each bearing and then spin it to ensure that the oil is evenly distributed. Repeat this process for all eight bearings. It's essential to avoid using WD-40 as a lubricant because the effects will wear off quickly, leaving the bearings dry and vulnerable to rust.

Q: Are washers necessary on skateboards?

A: The short answer is yes. A washer is needed between the kingpin nut and the bushing- it prevents the nut from cutting into the bushing, and it helps keep the kingpin nut screwed on tightly. Some trucks will not use a washer on the boardside position but you will always need a washer on the roadside position.

Q: What is skateboard in water called?

A: Wakeskating. Wakeskating is an adaptation of wakeboarding that employs a similar design of board manufactured from maple or fibreglass. Unlike wakeboarding, the rider is not bound to the board in any way, similar to the skateboard, from which the name derives.

Q: Do skateboards lose pop?

A: By popping your tail (or nose) many times, the wood of your deck will eventually wear away and become more and more pointed towards the end. This increases the area that comes into contact with the ground during an ollie, which leads to more and more friction and therefore less pop.

Q: What age skateboards the most?

A: Age. Skateboarding, for many, becomes the recreational activity of choice well into adulthood. Market research studies reveal that skateboarders are, on average, 14 year old males. This is the thickest point of the bell curve.

Q: Is a longer skateboard better for beginners?

A: The length can also play a role, but the deck width is more important at the beginning. Over time you'll find out which width suits you best. Of course, your personal preference also determines how wide or narrow or short or long your board should be.

Q: How do you know if you need a new skateboard?

A: Normally you will know when it is time to change your board. It feels like the board is soft. Tail and nose start to chip and the pop does not act correctly when you try to Ollie. You can do the test of hitting the tail against the ground with a new board and an old board.

Q: How often should I skateboard to get good?

A: As much as you can, but it's more important to try different stuff. There's no order to trick mastery. If you skate for a whole week only doing kickflips, you might get pretty good at kickflips, but if you skate all week trying a bunch of different tricks for a little while.

Q: Is longboard harder than skateboard?

A: The reason we recommend longboarding for beginners is that it's easier to master than skateboarding. Skateboarding is chalk full of difficult technicalities that require time and patience to learn. On average, a skateboard's speed can range from 5 to 12 miles per hour (8-19 kilometers per hour). But there's more to it than just a simple number.

Q: Do crayons work as skate wax?

A: To sum it up, you can easily make your own skate wax by melting leftover candles and crayons, but we recommend you use the paraffin and beeswax combination because it tends to make a better wax that's closer to pro brands and what you can find in stores.

Q: What happens if I dont wax my board?

A: Wax keeps your board from drying up, essentially hydrating it the same way we need to hydrate after a few long runs. A snowboard base is made up of pores, and when the base gets dry, it makes your board less agile and lowers the performance and overall life of the snowboard.
