Types of Complete Skateboard Pro
Longboards
Longboards are characterized by their extended decks, which can range from a deck width of 34 to 50 inches long. They come in various shapes and styles, including pintails, drop-throughs, and decks. Longboards feature large, soft wheels for better grip and stability at high speeds. Longboard trucks are generally wider than street skateboards or cruisers, providing additional stability and control.
Vert Skateboards
Vert skateboards, or transition or park skateboards, are designed for skating on vertical ramps and bowls. These boards have a more expansive deck than double kick skateboards, measuring 8.25 to 9 inches in width and 31 to 33 inches in length. Vert skateboards often feature a deeper concave and a more pronounced tail and nose than freestyle skateboard, which allows for better control during aerial manoeuvres. The wheels on vert skateboards are typically larger and softer than those on street skateboards, providing better grip and stability on ramp surfaces.
Electric Skateboards
Electric skateboards are a modern innovation combining traditional skateboard designs with electric motors, batteries, and remote controls. They come in various shapes and sizes, from street and cruiser skateboard styles to longboards. Electric skateboards feature powerful motors that can reach up to 25 mph or more speeds, depending on the model. Most electric skateboards allow adjustable speed settings and offer regenerative braking systems for smooth and safe rides.
Mini Cruisers
"Mini cruiser" cruisers are compact versions of cruiser skateboards, designed for easy transportation and maneuverability. They typically measure between 22 to 28 inches in length and 6 to 8 inches in width. Mini cruisers often feature a kicktail, which allows for quick turns and added control. Like standard cruiser boards, mini cruisers have soft, large wheels that provide a smooth, comfortable ride on various surfaces.
Deck
The Skateboard Deck itself can vary in size depending on your age and skill level. The needs of your board can mean you may prefer a wider deck for stability and balance, or a slimmer board for more efficient tricking. The ends of your board are called the nose and tail for the front and back respectively. The nose of the board will be slightly bigger and the tail slightly smaller. Every board features 4 bolt holes, or mounting holes, where the bolts feed through and attach to the trucks. When gripping the board it's important to make sure the bolt holes are pushed through and the edge of the grip is sorn clean.
Trucks
Trucks are made up of a baseplate, a kingpin, bushings, and hangers. The truck is used to turn and grind the board. Depending on how loose your setup is, it will allow you to turn more or less. The size of your deck will directly affect what size trucks you need for your board. If your trucks are too narrow for your board you'll find it difficult to balance and function the board, and equally if the trucks are too wide this could cause issues when navigating the board. Adjusting your setup and trucks is super important to the use and upkeep of your Skateboard. Your bushings (also known as cushions) can also have an effect on the turn of your board.
Wheels
When talking about Skateboard Wheels, it's best to start with explaining the wheel durometer. The Durometer refers to wheel hardness. The higher the durometer, the harder the wheel. Most standard Skateboard Wheels are around 95a and under 55mm. These are small hard wheels that have become the park setup default over the years, but some do prefer harder and softer wheels for different purposes. The benefit of a super hard wheel is that you'll gain more speed as well as less chance of flat spotting. Softer wheels are generally easier to control the speed of with being slower generally, but the real advantage of a larger, softer wheel is that they're better for more uneven terrain and surfaces.
Bolts
Skateboard truck bolts are pretty straight forward. For standard setups it's just gonna be a 1" bolt. If you have especially large trucks on your board like longboard trucks you may need larger bolts. In cases like these, or when you add a riser or shock pad to your build it can be more beneficial to use a 1 ¼ " or 1 ½ " bolt. If your bolts are too long this could cause issues when building and if your bolt is too short you won't be able to securely fix the nut and the truck will not be safely attached to the deck. To attach the bolts all you have to do is poke holes in the grip tape and slot the bolts in the correct positions. When building, if you have two silver or alternative coloured bolts, these are to indicate the nose at the top of the board, and the all black/regular colour bolts can be used on the tail.
Grip Tape
Griptape is also relatively self explanatory. The grip on the board is a sticky sheet of sandpaper you attach to your board and it will help you to jump in the air and do tricks. This is helpful when flipping the board as there's some resistance on it making it easier to trick with. Sometimes when your board arrives or when you've freshly applied your griptape this can have bubbles in - this is perfectly normal and will often come out with use.
Bearings
As far as bearings go, the main thing to make a note of is the ABEC rating. The higher the abec rating, the stronger the bearing is. If you're a beginner, it's unlikely you'll need anything crazy in terms of bearings but the best quality bearings will always start you off on the right foot. An Abec 5 bearing will run smoothly and get you from A to B but an Abec 9 bearing would be able to cope with more intensive use, for example being able to cope with landing tricks or skating ramps. Keeping your bearings clean and away from water is paramount for the longevity of your bearings. Bearing cleaners can be purchased but not necessary, and we always recommend keeping some speed cream handy if you are looking to take to the slopes.
Types of 7 Inch Skateboard Complete
Longboard
Classic longboards are very popular on the street today. Named for their long length (typically 33 inches or more), longboards offer increased stability and maneuverability over smaller skateboards, making them one of the best skateboards for beginners.Their large, soft wheels, wide trucks, and long decks provide a smoother riding experience on rough, uneven surfaces.Longboards are also the fastest form of skateboard, ideal for bombing big hills, sliding, and making wide, sweeping turns.
Pintail
Pintail boards are named for their distinctive "pintail" shape, tapered at the front and back (more aggressively tapered at the back). This board shape helps prevent wheelbite, which occurs when you carve too hard and your deck makes contact with your wheels. Wheelbite can be extremely dangerous, and it can even completely throw you off your board at any speed.
Twin Tip
Twin tip longboards feature pinched noses and tails, each almost symmetrical. This tapered design eliminates the possibility of wheelbite, and is great for deep carves and fast downhill rides, but features less board space. The twin tip frame also allows for a "drop through" deck, where the deck dips down in the center, sitting slightly lower than the trucks.
Cruiser Longboards
Unlike pintail and twin tip longboards, cruiser longboards feature a full deck, more akin to that found on a traditional street skateboard.Cruiser longboards like Zed 44" Longboard are great for beginner longboarders since they offer maximum deck space for your feet. The trucks on cruisers are higher and the wheels are also larger and softer than a standard board. In general, you'll also find the bushings more flexible.
How to Choose Complete Skateboard Pro
Your Height, Weight and Shoe Size
Your height, weight and shoe size should be taken into consideration, as this can guide your decision on what skateboard to get. Choose a skateboard that's too narrow or too wide, and you may be unable to execute tricks or distribute your weight properly. For more detail on the aspects check out "How to Choose a Skateboard Deck".
The Right Deck Size
You might go through a couple of boards before you find your favorite size. While there's not really a right or wrong here, as it all comes down to personal preference in the end, different widths and lengths are - in general - suited to different purposes and have their own individual characteristics. You can read more about the variations in our Article on Skateboard Sizes.
Different Skateboarding Skill Levels
Choosing a skateboard also comes down to skill level; as this improves, what you want from a skateboard will also evolve. Beginners, advanced skaters and everyone in between will have different requirements that reflect their skating skills and preference.
What Are Skateboarding's Key Tricks And Techniques?
Shove It
An ollie where the tail strikes the ground at a 45-degree angle, thereby causing the impact energy to reverse the axis of the board 180 degrees laterally underneath the skater's feet.
Kickflip
The trick which made skateboarding explode in public consciousness: an ollie in which the leading foot flicks the rebounding board into a full single rotation along its length before being again in mid-air and guided back to terra firma. A well-executed kickflip can look like magic.
Heelflip
Essentially, a kickflip spun the opposite direction. Heelflips are less common than kickflips because they are less precise and very unforgiving if the skater makes an error of judgement!
Grinds / slides
Using the various sections of the wooden skateboard (slides) or metal undercarriage (grinds) to assail the edges of the terrain the skateboarder is riding. Slides and grinds are often combined with other tricks into or out of them in order to create ever more challenging and complex permutations!
Nollie
An ollie using the nose of the board as opposed to the tail. The reversal of energy flow requires a total recalibration of the skateboarder's mind to process the technique for tricks which begin with a nollie; therefore nollie tricks are considered more difficult and rewarded accordingly.
Grabs
The art of grabbing the skateboard mid-flight is more about style than necessity. Each section of the board can be grabbed with either hand to produce flourishes, tweaks and stretches which demonstrate control and finesse.
Switchstance
Not so much a trick as an inversion of form, skateboarding'switch' is effectively going backwards – riding in the opposite direction of one's preferred combat stance. Recreating any move switchstance is the skateboarding equivalent of learning how to play golf the other way around, but with much more dangerous consequences from any errors arising from miscalculation!
Apply the Grip Tape
Begin by applying the grip tape to the deck. Start by peeling off the backing paper and aligning the tape with the deck. Press it down firmly to ensure it adheres properly.
Cut the Excess Grip Tape
Once the grip tape is applied, use a razor blade or utility knife to trim the excess tape around the edges of the deck. Be careful not to cut into the deck itself.
Install the Trucks
The trucks are what hold the wheels in place. Use your skate tool to attach the trucks to the deck. Make sure they are aligned properly and tightened securely.
Install the Wheels
Once the trucks are in place, it's time to install the wheels. Simply push the bearings into the wheels and then slide the wheels onto the axles of the trucks. Make sure they spin freely and don't wobble.
Test the Board
Finally, give your skateboard a quick test to ensure everything is in place and working properly. Stand on the board and rock back and forth to make sure the trucks are secure and the wheels spin freely.
How to Maintain Complete Skateboard Pro
Schedule Regular Maintenance
Set a reminder to perform maintenance tasks at least once a month. This can be done using a calendar or a phone app.
Keep a Maintenance Kit Handy
Keep a maintenance kit with all the necessary tools and supplies, such as a skate tool, bearing cleaner, and lubricant. This will make it easier to perform maintenance tasks quickly and efficiently.

Store the Skateboard Properly
When not in use, store the skateboard in a dry and cool place. This helps prevent damage to the deck and other components.
Replace Worn Components
If a component is worn or damaged beyond repair, replace it immediately. Continuing to use a damaged component can be dangerous and affect the skateboard's performance.
